Les Etangs de la Barreyre / JeRo’s

Found close to the Le Gurp surfing beach, so close you can hear the waves, on the South West coast of France and in the Medoc region famous for the best wine in World.

The lakes are set in forest that runs the length of the 200 mile coastline. A very quiet area even in the height of the Summer tourist time and due to the forest plenty of wildlife surrounds us like ducks, deer and wild hogs can be found.

Fishing.....

A three lake fishery consisting of : Lake 1: The lake on the far left of the photo. Heavily stocked lake of mixed fish mainly from 1 kg - 6 kg.

Middle lake: Mixed fish of small size but with some Grass Carp to 20 lb.

Children’s pond: A sectioned of area of the middle stuffed with three types of carp, goldfish, tench and silver fish.

Specimen lake: The lake on the right. Carp up to 40lb, Tench, Black Bass to 7 lb and Sturgeon to 30 lb.

LES ETANGS DE LA BARREYRE

Each lake averages 2 hectares and offer relative easy fishing for quality fish of mixed species. The lakes are highly stocked and day catches average 100lb plus. Best described as a ‘run water’ or a French version of a UK match complex. The fishery is the French home for RINGERS BAITS.

The fishery is a mainly carp and sturgeon venue but since our restocking program the fishery has become a lovely all round fishing venue with some of the best Black Bass fishing in France. More fish arrived during the Winter of 2007’-2008’ in the way of some colorful fish for lake 1 and the specimen lake received several new sturgeon as which in the wild can grow to 800 kg!

Although no caravans or camping is allowed due to local laws, bivvying (fishing tents) are ok. Shower, toilet and power on site for use.

Shop and bar are within easy reach from the lake. Totally necessary for supplies and a proper sized cold beer!

On site shop offers basic bait and tackle for sale. Fishing tackle can be hired on site for daily or week use. Rods, pods, pole, bivvy’s, nets and mats etc.

Each lake or the whole complex can be hired for exclusive and private use throughout the year. €1000 for exclusive use of specimen lake and use of other lakes. €1500 for total privacy. Week tickets €150, day tickets €20 or €30/24 hours.

A variety of high quality accommodation options are close by which include houses, apartments and top of the range mobile homes and chalets in the local camp site. All are around 1 km from the lakes and only a short drive, cycle or nice walk away.

Without doubt this coastal region is still unspoiled and remains one of the quietest and peaceful areas of France.
